Exploring Frontier Technology and Cultural Heritage – Rose Study Tour in Hangzhou
Students from the USTC Special Class for the Gifted Young (SCGY), led by Prof. Xuejin Chen, Associate Dean of SCGY, traveled to Hangzhou for the spring semester Rose Study Tour. This activity aims to broaden students' horizons through on-site visits to cutting-edge technology hubs and cultural landmarks.

On June 6, the delegation arrived at Alibaba Cloud Valley Campus. At the exhibition hall, students experienced immersive demonstrations of real-world applications in cloud computing and artificial intelligence—from underlying computing architectures to upper-layer application ecosystems. They also explored the campus, gaining a firsthand sense of the innovative atmosphere within a leading tech enterprise.
USTC alumnus and General Manager of the Alibaba Cloud University Cooperation Office, Bei Li, delivered a welcome address and exchanged gifts with Prof. Chen, symbolizing the enduring partnership between SGY and the company. Students then attended a series of lectures covering:
The evolution of data centers in the AI era;
How agent technologies are reshaping future collaboration models;
The full-link service architecture of Qwen Cloud, from model training to inference;
The role of large models as new tools for accelerating scientific discovery.
The sessions concluded with a lively roundtable discussion, where alumni and technical experts addressed student questions on topics ranging from technological ethics to career planning.

On June 7, the group visited Rokid, where Vice President Yuyan Zhou led a guided tour of the company's AR products. Students also attended a lecture on The Past, Present, and Future of AR Glasses, which sparked interest in emerging technologies.
Beyond the tech visits, the tour also embraced Hangzhou's cultural richness. Students enjoyed a night cruise on West Lake and explored the Zhejiang Museum, where they delved into the province's historical heritage through its extensive artifact collections.

True to the SCGY's educational philosophy of reading ten thousand books and traveling ten thousand miles, this Rose Study Tour was not merely an exploration of technology and culture, but also a deep dialogue on growth and the future.
