Focus on AI Generated Content—SGY Forum Kicks Off Spring Semester 2025
On March 26, 2025, School of the Gifted Young (SGY) held a forum centered on the theme “Ten Key Reflections on AI Generated Content,” drawing a large on-site audience of faculty and students. Chaired by Professor Wang Zuoqin, Associate Dean of the School, the forum features two distinguished alumni: Dr. Mei Tao and Dr. Yao Ting.

Dr. Mei Tao (Class of 9610), Foreign Member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and Founder/CEO of HiDream.ai, leveraged his profound expertise in AI to provide a comprehensive overview of the industry's current landscape. He outlined five landmark activities in AI—Sora, GPT-4o, GPT-o1, embodied intelligence, and AI4S—while elucidating DeepSeek's pivotal technological innovations. Dr. Mei Tao presented ten key reflections on generative AI, covering diverse aspects including non-technical problems in large-model applications, multimodal fusion, resource requirements, commercialization challenges, pathways to AGI, industry trends, and ethical compliance. His insights revealed the future trajectory and challenges of large-model technology to attendees.

Dr. Yao Ting (Class of 2005), Co-founder and CTO of HiDream.ai, focused on multimodal large model applications. Through practical case studies, he vividly demonstrated innovative practices in image, video, and interactive domains. Dr. Yao also delved into multimodal large models' applications in video generation and film production, as well as how generative AI empowers cultural tourism innovation. He further introduced HiDream.ai's AIGC Youth Talent Development Program.

During the Q&A session, speakers engaged in discussions with faculty and students on pressing topics like user privacy protection in the AI era and enhancing video generation quality.
The SGY forum serves as a platform for faculty and students to engage with masters. Since its inception, it has garnered support from numerous distinguished scholars and entrepreneurs while attracting large student participation, playing a vital role in broadening academic horizons.
