Gifted Youth Alumni-founded Company LightLife made a donation to The School of Engineering Science and was awarded as a student practice base


On the morning of November 16th, the donation ceremony and the awarding ceremony of the student practice base of LightLife was held in the Conference Room 201, Fourth Floor, West District, University of Science and Technology of China. Founder and the Chief Scientist of LightLife Hao He (SGY ’08), along with USTC ’06 alumnus and CEO of LightLife Guowei Xu, attended the ceremony, along with the Director of School External Liaison and Fund Affairs Office, Secretary General of Education Foundation Yu Zhou, Student Affairs Office Deputy Head of the Department Gang Zhao, Executive Dean of the School of Engineering Science Heng-an Wu, Party Secretary and Vice Dean Minghou Liu, Vice Dean Shiwu Zhang, and heads of the Department of Precision Machinery and Precision Instruments attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Cheng Liu, the Executive Director of the Department of Precision Instruments and Precision Instruments.



Minghou Liu firstly welcomed the visit of LightLife to our school and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the company for its enthusiastic donation. He said that the positioning of the company is closely related to the discipline development of the School of Engineering Sciences. He hopes that both parties will develop their respective advantages, jointly promote school-enterprise cooperation, jointly promote talent training, and promote the transformation of scientific research results in order to achieve industry-university cooperation and win-win situations.



USTC Alumnus Guowei Xu said that the motto of the alma mater “Being responsible and professional, integrating theory with practice” has always been kept in his mind. The entrepreneurial partners of LightLife are all alumni of USTC, who are in the spirit of serving the country through science and technology. USTC culture allows USTCers to trust and attract each other. Xu also said that the company will continue to develop close cooperation with universities, cultivate high-quality comprehensive talents, and contribute to social development and transformation.



Later, on behalf of the school, Yu Zhou signed a donation agreement with the company, and issued donation certificates and school souvenirs to two alumni Hao He and Guowei Xu. He said that the alumni donation is an expression of the feelings towards their alma mater. He hoped that more exchanges between alumni, and more cooperation between the school and alumni would be strengthened, and he wished that the development of Light Life would be better and better.



Further, the Department of Precision Machinery and Precision Instrumentation of the School of Engineering Science and LightLife have signed an industry-university-research cooperation agreement. The two parties will use their own advantages to promote the transformation of scientific research results and promote the training of talents through joint project research, joint construction of research centers and student practice bases cooperation in other areas. At the symposium, Heng-an Wu, on behalf of the college, awarded the student practice base plaque to LightLife.



After the ceremony, Dr. He Hao, the founder and chief scientist of LightLife, and a SGY alumnus, gave an academic report entitled "Application of Single Molecule Detection in the Field of Precision Medicine-New Methods to Develop New Markets". In the free discussion session, the teachers, students and Hao He had in-depth exchanges.
