SGY Held the Fourth “Students Meet with Research Advisors” Communication Session
In May 2024, School of the Gifted Young (SGY) successfully held the fourth "Students Meet with Research Advisors" communication session. This activity aims to provide students with a platform for in-depth understanding of research directions through face-to-face communication. Through interaction with research advisors, students can not only acquire valuable scientific research knowledge but also raise interest in scientific research and get support for their career planning.
Prof. Zhengtian Lu, Dean of SGY, was present at the event. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the research advisors who participated in this event, thanking them for their care for students and support for SGY. He hopes that students can actively participate in scientific research practice, tap their scientific research potential, and achieve all-round development.
After careful preparation, this "Students Meet with Research Advisors" activity attracted more than 250 research team members from various research fields and more than 500 students from the whole school. The activity was held throughout the day on May 12 and in the afternoon of May 17, receiving strong support from many departments, including School of Mathematical Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Chemistry and Materials Science, School of Engineering Science, Department of Information and Intelligence, School of Earth and Space Sciences, the Division of Life Sciences and Medicine, School of Management, School of Humanities and Social Science, College of Environmental Science and Optoelectronic Technology, School of Nuclear Science and Technology, National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at Microscale, State Key Laboratory of Fire Science. Research advisors not only brought a wealth of scientific research knowledge but also brought care and support for students' future.
In the warm atmosphere, students carefully read the introduction posters of research teams, asked questions actively, and thought enthusiastically. The advisors answered questions patiently and introduced scientific research topics in an easy-to-understand way to help students understand the scientific research content. The desire for scientific research and the thirst for knowledge made the event full of vitality and vigor. SGY also prepared a "Handbook about Scientific Research Advisors " for students, providing students with a convenient way to communicate with advisors.
SGY will continue to use this activity as a platform to provide students with more opportunities to contact the forefront of scientific research, and constantly explore and innovate the educational model for cultivating scientific research spirit and professional talents.
