School alumnus elected as academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences
On November 22nd, it was announced that Sidao NI, an alumnus of the USTC School of the Gifted Young (Class of 1988), was elected to be an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Congratulations!
Sidao NI entered USTC SGY in 1988, obtained his bachelor's degree in 1993 and a master's degree in 1996. In 2001, he earned a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He has conducted research and teaching at Caltech, USTC and the CAS Institute of Geophysics. Currently, he serves as the Associate Director of the CAS Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology. His research focuses on computational seismology, global seismology, and deep seismic physics. He has published over 100 articles in international journals including Nature, Science, EPSL, JGR and GSA. He has led major projects including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and the 973 Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
